Welcome
Established in 1967, "The Other Way" Ministries is a Grand Rapids, Michigan, West side urban outreach committed to Christian community development. We refer to our neighborhood as Westown.
Our strategic focus is Family Development: Developing stronger, Christ-centered families.
At the heart of family development programming is the goal of creating Christ-centered, sustainable change in Westown families. As always, we hope to accomplish this through mutual relationships with our neighbors and building on their assets and strengths.
Our programs and services include but are not limited to:
- Programs for men, women, children and families to cultivate sustainable change, personal relationships with God, self-disciplines, leadership skills and teamwork
- Immediate crisis intervention and referrals
- Partnerships with other organizations to compassionately and efficiently care for, love and encourage our neighbors

Our Vision Statement:
“The Other Way” Ministries envisions a community where Westown neighbors . . .
- Value people of all ages, races, abilities and cultures
- Come together to meet needs, affirm strengths and develop leaders
- Work together to foster economic, educational, social and spiritual growth
We believe that Jesus Christ is the transformer of hearts and lives . . .the restorer of community. He calls us to be His ambassadors. His strength empowers us. His scripture guides us and His Spirit leads us as we live out His call to be good neighbors. (Luke 10: 25-37)
